Rona Satten

Rona Satten creates artwork that portrays with infinitesimal detail the mystery and lyricism of the green world around us. She uses traditional printmaking processes with meticulous care and precision, and also relies on intuition, chance, and the perfection of nature to accomplish her objectives. Her resulting imagery is rich with layers and other-worldly markings, and meanings densely evocative.

Rona holds a Masters of Creative Arts in Therapy from Hahnemann Medical College and a BA in Art History from Simmons College. She studied for three years at the Barnes Foundation and continues her lifelong art making at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

Rona’s current focus is printmaking with actual botanical elements – leaves, seeds, fragments she collects from wherever her eyes and feet take her. Her deep connection to the natural world and its tangible expression in her prints is an outgrowth of a decade of practice and study of Eastern philosophy and healing arts. Rona is a certified Qigong/Tai Chi instructor and teaches throughout the Philadelphia area.

Selected exhibitions include: Perkins Center for the Arts; Main Line Art Center; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Audubon Society: Paoli Hospital; Communitas Gallery; Philadelphia Sketch Club; Old City Jewish Arts Gallery; and Fleisher Art Memorial ‘Dear Fleisher’ Invitational. Her prints are in public and private collections, including Le Salle Bank and the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
